What is WriterHabits SMS?

WriterHabits is a writing productivity platform that helps writers build consistent habits, track goals, and stay motivated. As part of the platform, registered users can opt in to receive SMS text message notifications on their mobile phone.

SMS notifications are an optional, user-configured feature available to Paid Tier subscribers. Users choose exactly which notifications they want to receive and when.

Personalized messages to inspire and motivate your writing practice:

Reminders and updates about your writing goals:

How to Opt In

SMS notifications require explicit opt-in by the user. The process is as follows:

  1. Create a WriterHabits account and subscribe to the Paid Tier.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Text messages from the main menu.
  3. Enter your mobile phone number in the phone number field.
  4. Check the "Allow text messages from WriterHabits" checkbox to grant consent.
  5. Save your settings. Your phone number is now registered for SMS notifications.
  6. Navigate to Notifications from the main menu.
  7. Create a new notification and select "Text message" as the notification channel.
  8. Configure the notification type, schedule, and preferred days and times.

Users will only receive SMS messages for notifications they have explicitly created and configured. No SMS messages are sent without the user's active configuration.

Consent Language

The following consent checkbox is presented to users on the Settings → Text messages page before SMS can be enabled:

Users must check this box before any SMS messages will be sent. The checkbox is unchecked by default and must be actively selected by the user.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on the user's individual notification settings. Users have full control over:

Typical usage ranges from 1 to 7 messages per week, depending on the user's preferences. Users can modify or delete notifications at any time.

How to Opt Out

Users can stop receiving SMS messages at any time using any of the following methods:

Upon opting out, all SMS message delivery ceases immediately. Users may re-opt-in at any time by following the opt-in process above.

WriterHabits does not charge separately for SMS notifications; they are included as part of the Paid Tier subscription. However, standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Please contact your carrier for details about your messaging plan.

Privacy & Data

Your phone number is stored securely and used solely for delivering the SMS notifications you have configured. WriterHabits does not sell, share, or distribute your phone number to third parties. Phone numbers are transmitted to our SMS provider (Twilio) only for the purpose of message delivery.
